Run as fast as you can.....

Hey.....
For todays post I thought I would share with you an extremely short story about an extremely difficult but amazing day last year. On the 4th September 2011 I ran a half marathon. For any of you that don't know that is 13.2 long miles. I did this around the town of Wolverhampton (Not the most glamourous of settings but I managed ahaa. Well I am not going to explain too much about the day because it is all explained in this little quirky story/ diary entry I wrote about the day......

Did you know there’s a saying that you can actually run double what you think you can? This is a fact that I held on to whilst running the Wolverhampton half marathon, mile after mile I gripped this thought tight in my mind as my feet pelted against concrete, grass and gravel.

Self belief- the belief that you can do anything if you set your mind to it- this is something that I didn’t have on the morning of the fourth of September 2011, but by the end of the day I felt as though I could do anything. In theory I probably should have been inspired by the skinny, six foot athletes surrounding me at the start line, but unfortunately it had the opposite effect; I couldn’t help feeling intimidated, unprepared and unenthused. “BANG!” It was as though a million tiny daggers had surged through my body, forcing me to jump start into action. The sound of stopwatches rang through my ears, the cheers from the crowd made me smile and the rest was up to me.

For anyone who is like me and relies on music to run, then might I suggest that you ensure that your IPod is functioning properly before running thirteen miles; this is something I learned the hard way. Listening to the same song for two hours, forty three minutes and twelve seconds can really make the lyrics loose all meaning. But on the upside, every time I listen to that very song it will always remind me of the day when I achieved what I began to believe was the impossible. Even though I make it sound as though it was the toughest thing I have ever had to do, it wasn’t actually that bad. Considering I had only trained for five months I could have done a lot worse.

This is me and mum in the middle of the Marathon chatting to my auntie. We didn't stop long I promise :D

I would recommend running to everyone it feels amazing to acheive something like this. The reason I chose to write about this today is last night I actually went out running for the first time since last year,

Technology!!! qwhbgfhbfhj -_-

In my about me section when I started this blog I promised I would never neglect my blog and since then I have not stayed true to my word!! But technology is the reason for this, which I happen to hate at times! It really is like a love-hate relationship.
My laptop has been broken for weeks and I have just gotten it fixed YAY! But then it got me thinking..... where would we be without technology??  What would the world be like if there were no computers or TV's (Which also broke this week :/)? I recently was given an old fashioned typewriter off my nan and I absolutely love it!!! I haven't actually used it for anything important but it is just so much fun and so much more satisfying seeing exactly what you are writing all printed out already!
Something else that reminded me how much I dislike technology is getting out the old photos of me and my sister from up the loft and realising that we don't actually have any printed out recent photos anymore because everything is on SD cards or splashed about the Internet somewhere on social networking sites! What if all the technology crashed all around the world??? Yeah it probably is unlikely, but would all of your memories be lost- YES!
I'm not a negative person and at times I love the endless possibilities that technology offers us, but I felt this was the perfect opportunity to have a rant!!! :D

This is one of the more fun times I have with my laptop WEBCAM! I can't go cross eyed!
