I'm Back! Hectic Weekend!

Sorry bloggers....
I haven't been on here all weekend!!! Bad blogger! Well there was a reason to be honest, although not a very good one and its no excuse....

You see, since turning eighteen in March I haven't actually been out in town which seems like a right of passage to any eighteen year old I know. But to be fair its not really much fun for someone who doesn't drink much :/ I should point out that I have absolutely no problem with other people drinking as most of my friends could probably drink anyone under the table, I just don't really like the taste; maybe it is something that I will get used to as the years progress, I dunno. So that is what I did on Saturday. I went to town for my cousins birthday. I can't exactly say that I enjoyed it as it really was a bit intimidating, luckily my cousin thought the same to and my cousin is loud and popular and nothing would ever seem to scare her. So if you are considering a night out in Wolverhampton, I might reconsider.... (Hey, I wonder if in a few years time I will be writing "Had an absolutely great night up town, got truly and utterly paninied!!" hahaha!)

This is us I am second to left :)
That's me on the end giving into peer pressure haha! But they were free...

It was also my mothers birthday yesterday! we didn't do much but it may have been a bit rude if I had just shut myself in my bedroom and said "sorry mum gotta write my blog....".

So that was my weekend and again I am sorry that I let my blog slip. It won't happen again I promise!!! Oh and if you were wondering that play suit is from river island and that blazer is new look :)

Common Inspiration? Who cares!

Yelloo Bloggerbuddies!
Well before I start to show you some of the stories that I have written myself I thought it would be a good idea to talk about my inspiration and why I want to become an author. To be honest it started at a young age when I was in middle school; whenever the teacher set us homework to do that involved us being creative and writing something that was completely our own, I was secretly thrilled but of course I would always groan along with the rest of the class!

From there I started writing short stories and loved giving them to my friends and family for them to read. I got such a buzz from the positive feedback (Even if it might have been a little bit biased). It was initially my mum's idea for me to become an author and then she remembered something......
When my mum was young, her mum (My nan) went to see a clairvoyant and she told her that her daughter would become a writer. Of course my mum has never written in her life so we figured it was Bogus, despite the fact that she got everything else right! But when I started writing my stories, I found great comfort knowing this fact and it spurred me on, because as far fetched as it sounds, I did see this as a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel!

So its all looking promising but when I came to High School I kind of stopped writing. I know, shameful! But when your starting a new school with people that are up to five years older than you, you don't want to be known as the sad girl that locks herself in her bedroom and just writes and writes. I look back now and think "look at all of that time that I lost!!". I doesn't matter though because I feel like I have caught up. I didn't start writing again until I was 16/17 and my friend bet me that I could not read all of the Harry Potter books before Christmas (It was October). So this certainly was not a bet that I would turn down! I didn't actually own any of the books but my nan did so every weekend I would borrow all eight of the books one at a time and before I knew it I was absolutely hooked! Anyone who hasn't read them- What the hell???? I would highly recommend you read them! Believe me, it won't take long to finish all of the books once you get going! So anyway, I won the bet! And it also instilled my passion for writing back into me. I know what you're going to say "Oh great just another delusional Harry Potter fan who believes that they can get the fame of JK Rowling and looks up to her like some sort of God!" Well maybe you are right but there is absolutely nothing wrong with that!
There's nothing wrong with a bit of HP! I got my own for my birthday last year.

Just thought I would add that the first book I remember reading properly was Black Beauty. What was yours? <3

My first writing breakthrough!

Hello Bloggerbuddies....
So for my first blog entry, I have thought long and hard about how I was going to tackle this difficult task, but I have come to the conclusion that I will write about possibly the most exciting experience of my life which happened on a cold winters night in January (24th of January 2012 to be exact).
You have probably guessed from the title that it has something to do with my writing and you would be correct! So this is what happened........
On the 19th December 2011 I had just split up from school for x-mas Yay! But this also marked the day that the writing competition I had been desperate to enter was closing. This "writing" competition was for the movie: "The Woman In Black" (If you haven't seen it already then I recommend you buy the DVD! But ignore the "12" rating, it may as well be a "15"). Anyway, I had already written a scary story/ poem which was the required genre for the competition- Duh! But me being the procrastinator that I am I forgot to submit it! To make matters even worse, it was a YouTube competition in which you have to record yourself reading it in under 2 minutes #Panic stations! ( I don't even have a channel!) But me and my sister managed to record it, even though it did take over an hour (I have a problem with giggling). So I managed to submit my entry and now all I had to do was wait. In the meantime I starting looking at all the other competition entries- BAD IDEA! It completely knocked my confidence; there were 180 entries! They were also all fantastic and I had never entered a writing competition in my life! This one only came to my attention because the winner got to meet Daniel Radcliffe and have him read their story on the DVD!
The next day I went to Merry Hill (A shopping centre close to where I live), I can't remember what I brought or even why we were there haha! But the important thing is that when I cam home I noticed that the Facebook site for the woman in Black had been updated and that they had shortlisted the top ten! I wasn't expecting it to be this quick! So I scrolled down the page bracing myself for disappointment but then........ I HAD BEEN PICKED! I genuinely couldn't believe it. You know when someone gets through to boot camp on the x-factor? Yeah, well that is exactly how I reacted! So now it was up to the YouTube community to decide- I didn't know anyone in the Youtube community!!! But nevertheless my family and friends pitched in and got Youtube channels just so they could vote for me and then other votes and comments from people I didn't know started pouring in! I was absolutely gobsmacked!
The voting closed after Christmas on the 5th January 2012. I didn't win. But I did come second and that is good enough for me. So the time passed, I got over it and also passed my driving test on the 16th of January and on the very same day something arrived in the post. I knew that I would be receiving signed merchandise from the film for coming in the top ten but what I didn't expect was the two premiere tickets that came to! I was so happy I could hardly breathe!- I would take my sister as she helped me film my video. The only problem was that it was on a school day and it was in London (I live in the midlands) It was starting to look like a far away dream, until my grandad offered to take us! That was that; I would take the day off school to go to London and live the dream of a celeb down the red carpet. I brought my outfit immediately, with the dress code being "Gothic Chic" I took that to mean black, so I brought a gorgeous black playsuit from River Island that I would change into.
When we got to London My Grandad (An ex coach driver) knew where all of the great sights were and we drove around taking it all in; Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Trafalgar square...... amazing! But of course at around 6.30pm we had to get changed in a restaurant by the Royal Festival Hall, where the Premiere would take place. I had never been so excited in all my life.
This is me on the red carpet- despite that the light makes it look orange.

We then proceeded to walk down the Red Carpet as all of the stars arrived: Johnathan Ross, Mark Wright, Jimmy Carr and of course Mr Radcliffe himself! The only one I got to meet was Mark Wright, the charming fellow from highly controversial "reality" show: The Only way Is Essex. He will forever be the first celebrity that I have ever met, even though I am sure that some of you won't even think he is one.
Me and my Sister with Mark wright!!! Sorry its a bit blurry!

So we took our seats and "watched" the film. When I say "watched" I mean through the gaps in my fingers! The drive home was depressing- it was like we were going back to reality and this opportunity would never come around again. The dream was fulfilled and I will hole it in my heart forever. It is certainly something to tell the grandkids!

By the way this is the link to my ghost story "Cassie's Ghost" If you want to watch it :D
